On March 30, the "2021 China catering industry summit and the first Red Bull award ceremony of China catering industry" jointly sponsored by cnr.com, red food.com and Hotelex Shanghai Hotel and Catering Exhibition was held in Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center.
The summit invited many influential figures from the catering industry, academia, media and capital industry to gather together. They had in-depth exchanges with more than 1200 catering people, industry chain practitioners and managers in the form of white paper release, independent speech and round table forum.
The following is the theme record of the speech by Mr. Song Qianqian, the founder of Jiahua capital, on the capitalization opportunity of the big catering sector:
I have said publicly that in the next 10 years, Chinas catering industry will complete the process of capitalization, branding and chain operation.
The scale of Chinas catering industry is 4.72 trillion yuan, which is conservatively estimated to solve the employment problem of 60 million people. In fact, with some matrimonial stores and individual stores that are not included in the national statistics, Chinas catering scale should be nearly 6 trillion.
In the next 10 years, Chinas catering industry is likely to break through the scale of 10 trillion, creating 80 million to 100 million jobs. Catering is a very good track, which is also an important reason for Canadian capital to follow up the catering industry for many years.
Today, I would like to share with you the capitalization opportunities of the big catering sector.
Capitalization is not only an industrial opportunity, but also a booster for catering enterprises. For catering people, catering capitalization is a very important opportunity. How to seize it?
First of all, subjectively, we should have the willingness to accept capital. Many restaurant owners are ignorant when they enter the catering track, and they also have resistance to capital. People always lack a sense of security in strange things. However, only dare to challenge, dare to accept new things, in order to obtain good opportunities.
Secondly, we should take the initiative to meet standardization and capitalization. Standardization and capitalization means the upgrading of company management. The entry threshold of catering industry is relatively low, and the overall quality of employees is not particularly high. In business management, catering people still have a lot to go and many lessons to make up.
If there is no capitalization, no listing requirements, no external pressure, catering enterprises simply rely on their own reform, it is very difficult. We have invested in many enterprises. Standardization and capitalization are very helpful to the long-term competitiveness of enterprises.
Third, environment driven. Enterprises are faced with the competition of various survival factors in the market all the time. In addition to land, equipment, factories and talents, capital is also a very important factor of production.
Who can grasp more capital, more production factor capacity, who will be able to obtain a more advantageous position in the future commercial competition. Capital helps the development of enterprises, which can promote enterprises to have more opportunities in the future competition.
Fourth, the business environment has undergone profound changes. When the business environment is undergoing comprehensive changes, enterprises should follow up in time. Once upon a time, there were various relatively non-standard operation modes in catering enterprises. Under the increasingly regular macro environment and financial and tax environment, the market forced enterprises to carry out normative reform.
In a word, capitalization is a booster for enterprises. By taking advantage of the opportunities brought by capitalization, enterprises can complete standardized transformation; by introducing capital, they can complete brand upgrading; and by becoming a listed company, they can win market competition.
Catering enterprises need to embrace capital, but good capital is valuable. It took 28 years for Chinas catering industry to exceed 1 trillion yuan, but it took only three years to reach 3 trillion yuan to 4 trillion yuan. In the future, it will be a very fast process from four trillion to five trillion or even one hundred billion.
At present, Chinas per capita GDP is US $10000, which is moving towards us $12000. The per capita disposable income is more than 30000 yuan. Chinas consumer service industry is also exploding.
For a long time in the past, the consumer industry was very lonely. A lot of capital focused on the Internet, and the potential of the consumer service industry was not well exploited. But in the past three years, the consumer service industry has been very hot, attracting the attention of many funds. Why?
General manager Jia of Xibei once said, "which business is more important than serving 1.4 billion people well and having a good meal?" I quite agree with that. We are entering an era of "water is more expensive than oil". Nongfu spring is indeed more expensive than PetroChina. Therefore, consumers should have confidence that this is our super era.
There are three growth references for the investment evaluation of Jiahua capital: first, buy the industry growth, the industry growth must be fast, and the total amount must be large; second, buy the enterprise growth, the enterprise growth ability must be strong, and buy the future; third, buy the entrepreneur, buy the founders personality ability, learning ability and heart growth. If these three growth can be perfectly integrated together, it will win the value of time.
In the next ten years, catering enterprises will have a bright future in the capital market, and a large number of high-quality listed catering companies will emerge in China. In the next five to 15 years, there will be five to ten catering enterprises with 10 to 20 billion yuan and 70 catering enterprises with more than 5 billion yuan.
Catering is a competition. Under the catalysis of capital, the era of catering industry has come. However, catering people also need to realize that good capital is valuable to the enterprise.
Catering is a highly liquid industry, and its cash flow is also very good. There is no lack of capital. What is the lack? In fact, catering capitalization is more to introduce capital understanding of the industry. Only when you have the capital to create value, run the enterprise, the brand and the business together with you, can such capital be introduced.
We are not financial investors, we are co-founder investors. After investment, we are empowered to conduct in-depth research on the catering industry and deeply participate in the operation of catering enterprises.
Industrial capital must have a deep understanding of the industry in order to truly empower the company, integrate the ability of industry and finance, and increase the value.
If catering enterprises want to become bigger and stronger, they need to have the desire to regulate themselves. In the past two decades, why is catering basically isolated from capital? With the exception of a few companies, the capitalization rate of the nearly five trillion track is less than one thousandth. What is the reason?
Most of the catering people are used to living with some cash, and have never thought about how to standardize and strengthen the enterprise. It is easy to be bigger and difficult to be stronger because many enterprises have no desire to improve themselves.
In the past ten years, capital institutions have invested in the catering industry, and almost all of them have been wiped out. Jiahua capital is the only one left. Why is the whole army destroyed? Either things are wrong or people are wrong. In fact, if people are right, things are half right.
In the past decade, more and more catering enterprises, such as Haidilao and jiumaojiu, have successfully listed on the stock market because they have the right people. These listed restaurant owners have the vision of becoming entrepreneurs, the ambition and determination to lead the whole industry in China, and the motivation to become entrepreneurs.
The transition to an entrepreneur requires a high cost, which is not easy and challenging. But if it is done, it will be beneficial to yourself, the company and the brand.
Going public is a milestone for entrepreneurs. Twenty years ago, if a restaurant owner said I wanted to go public, be a brand and be global, you might think he was crazy. Twenty years ago, although Chinas catering industry was very large, it was decentralized but not strong.
There is such a "62" phenomenon in Chinese catering. Of the ten caterers, six lose money, two dont make money, and only two make money. This data is very tragic, and it is true that many brands have made scale but not money. Doing business has become a social welfare cause. Only solving employment can not create wealth and value.
However, China will definitely complete the high penetration of chain, brand and capitalization in the future. The catering industry is speeding up industrial concentration, and the head effect will be very obvious. The proportion is probably 28 or even 19.
In other words, only 10% of the people in each track can survive, and only 1% of the companies in 10% of the companies will become great companies.
In the face of such a great era, it is very important for every entrepreneur, especially those who aspire to be the champion of the industry, to take the lead in completing capitalization and corporatization.
With the release of the registration system, which is an infrastructure level reform, entrepreneurs who do well in enterprises will get equal opportunities to compete equally in the capital market, which is a major institutional advantage and a historic opportunity for all catering people.
What kind of enterprises are most suitable for capitalization?
First, strong motivation. We should have confidence in enterprise system and modern enterprise operation system, be willing to accept constraints and management, believe in management science, and firmly believe that it is right to pursue capitalization.
It is very difficult for enterprises like individual businesses, husband and wife shops to talk about capital. Because it needs continuous management, and the organization needs to be upgraded iteratively, the learning distance is relatively long.
Second, the ability to learn should be strong. Many bosses shiver when they hear about financing and listing. In fact, capital institutions are professional athletes. As long as you follow the rules, have strong learning ability, determination and perseverance, you can understand the capital listing.
Third, there is a strong vision. If you want to be a capitalized company, you must have a strong vision. If you want to be a leading enterprise in the industry and a champion in the industry, you need to have a champion heart. A strong vision is very important.
In the future, the big food sector, including the catering supply chain, has great opportunities, but not everyone can seize them. The enterprises with champion heart will seize more opportunities.
The future is the era of fine management. Since management science has not been introduced into submarine fishing, it can not become submarine fishing. We should believe and admit this logic. Capitalization and branding are the only way for a great company to develop. At the same time, capitalization is also very helpful to the cultivation of the real long-term core competitiveness of enterprises.
Some catering companies have developed far better than their counterparts since they went public. Because of the iterative development of a series of resource elements such as operation and strategic optimization over the years, the company has long-term core competitiveness and can safely enjoy the welfare value brought by time.
